Winter Weather

          For my winter weather image, I took a picture of a family ice skating on what used to be a lake in East Longmeadow. I took this picture the day after the snowstorm last week while some people were struggling and complaining about the snow, others were brought together like this family who got to spend some time with one another. I choose this image because of its significance and while taking the picture, I experienced what it was like to be a photojournalist because it was unplanned.

What is photojournalism?

Based on my definition, photojournalism can be defined as the art of communicating a story or information through photography. Photojournalism can also be defined as a method of retelling a story which would have been told through magazines or newspapers in previous years to have the audience understand and experience the emotions felt. Nowadays, photojournalism can be accessed through mobile phones, computers, laptops or tablets. Due to photojournalism, it has become easier to read articles and magazines because of the images provided. Through photojournalism, an individual should be able to understand and feel the emotions that are being conveyed through the picture. As the years go by, the use of magazines and newspapers have constantly decreased. This is where photojournalism steps in.
